Michael Goodwin KC’s client, a partner in a top flight accountancy firm, was found not guilty by a jury at Southwark Crown Court

Michael’s client along with two others, were accused within a business crime context of jointly cheating the public revenue of £1.2M of corporation tax.

The jury unanimously acquitted Michael’s client in December 2020. The two other defendants were convicted and were sentenced to imprisonment for three years and one year (suspended) respectively.
The defence case involved consideration of digital evidence obtained within a professional context over several years.
